Specially Designed Instruction for Co-Teaching

This new book by co-teaching guru Marilyn Friend, author of Co-Teach!, focuses on ensuring that students with disabilities in co-taught classes are receiving the special education services to which they are entitled. It reflects the most recent research and recommendations of how to design, deliver, and evaluate specialized techniques students need to improve their learning outcomes. Specific topics include

• the basis in law and meaning of specially designed instruction (SDI),
• the process special educators use to select SDI and provide it as part of co-teaching,
• examples of SDI across subject areas and grade levels,
• SDI for student behavior, and
• technology-based resources to support co-teachers as they teach their students.
